Firstly i'd like to give this website a plug for free accounting advice. On the website you can get free excel templates, accounting software and loads of good accounting and bookkeeping information.

Website Marketing Course

I delivered a website marketing course in January for Beta Technology. This time I split the course into two parts to make the going easier, as the content is quite intensive. 20 people attended Part 1 and a week later those same 20 people came back for Part 2, so i'm pretty sure I am doing something right there! Excellent feedback as usual. Someone did say they would like some hands-on stuff, practical coverage of things I discussed.

Now as I had split what is a 3 hour course into 2 parts to make the going easier (it was held in an evening) it would negate the point of doing that if I were then to add another half or one hour to go through step-by-step practical procedures too. I guess I could put on another course where we can do a practical show'n'tell session together, so I will give that some thought.

Feedback is always welcome and as such, can give you food for thought and open up other opportunities. If people will pay for practical training sessions, then great! I do one-to-one internet marketing sessions so there is that way around people getting the practical one on one, but that's more expensive of course. I can't do everything for free!!

Website and Database Backups

I have this weekend sent a reminder to all my hosting clients to remind them to do regular (as often as is necessary) backups of their website and database if they have one. I can't stress enough how important it is to have a copy of the most recent version of their site available should anything nasty happen.

....and it's Sod's Law that it will happen when you don't have a backup available to restore back to! I've offered all my hosting clients a free telephone session to do a step-by-step run through of the back up procedure through their hosting control panel (cPanel) to do both a full and partial back up. Better to be safe than sorry (and usually with a bill to add to the sting...ouch!).

Lesson for today - Make sure you back up your website and database ASAP.
