Glossary to the Web - Understanding Web Terminology

• If you have been struggling to understand internet and web terminology then fear not because we have compiled an A to Z glossary of the most common terms used in relation to the internet and websites generally.
• If you have a website or plan to have one, it's a good idea to become reasonably familiar with at least some of the day-to-day words used on the internet and in business using technology such as a website.
• If you don't know what something is or what it means, then neither will you know the potential benefit it could be to your business, so that in itself is a good enough reason to start learning the lingo!

On this website we try to use layman's terms as often as possible but it's simply not possibly to avoid the use of all techie words as that is the correct name for some things and there just isn't another word we can use in it's place.

You will note that where we use an acronym we will precede this with the full wording of the phrase so for example 'Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)' so you can become familiar with both phrases which we use. This is standard throughout our site for any topic.
